Sanctity of Human Life Sunday
Dear church leaders,
Abortion on demand has been available in Canada since the Supreme Court decision on January 28, 1988 which struck down all existing abortion legislation, making it legal through all nine months of pregnancy for any reason. Since being decriminalized in 1969, abortion has killed over 4 million babies in Canada.
Human beings are made in the image of God, and are unique among the rest of creation - created to reflect and display the glory of God. Abortion is therefore wrong because it ends the life of a human being who bears the image of Almighty God.
Many pastors set aside a Sunday in January, or the entire month, to acknowledge those most profoundly impacted by abortion, to ensure that those who have been involved in abortion decisions know forgiveness and healing is available, and to declare in a tangible way that human life is sacred.
As you look forward to the new year, plan how you can observe Sanctity of Human Life Sunday and equip your congregation to defend the value of human life among a culture that promotes the opposite. We have put together some resources to help guide your church to respond to this injustice, which you can find below:

This Sunday is marked as Sanctity of Human Life Sunday by countless churches across North America. Abortion on demand was legalized in Canada in January 1988. Since being decriminalized in 1969, over 4 million of God's tiniest image-bearers have been torn apart by abortion in our country. As ambassadors for the Creator of life, we have the privilege and responsibility of rescuing the innocent from death (Proverbs 24:11), caring for orphans and widows (James 1:27), and exposing evil (Ephesians 5:11). May we be a beacon of light and life in this dark world, seeking justice for the pre-born and loving mercy for those who have been hurt by abortion. Visit imagodei.ca to learn more.
