  • Sanctity of Human Life Sunday

Sanctity of Human Life Sunday Dear church leaders, Abortion on demand has been legal in Canada since January 1988, and in many American states even after the Dobbs decision of 2022. Since then, over 4 million pre-born human beings have been killed in Canada: little children who were knit together in their mother's womb by the Creator, whose tiny bodies have only ever felt the cold touch of an abortionist's forceps, and who have now been discarded as medical waste. This is not news to most of us, but it is an important reminder that we need to take meaningful action in order to rescue these children and provide hope to those who have been wounded by abortion. "Seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow's cause." Isaiah 1:17 Sunday, January 22nd is marked as Sanctity of Human Life Sunday by many churches across North America. Many churches use this opportunity to highlight the injustice of abortion by spending time in prayer and reminding their congregations of Christ’s call to defend life. In light of this, here are some ideas and resources that we pray are helpful as you prepare: 1. Pray specifically about abortion during the service. Find a list of suggested prayer points here. 2. Take a special collection towards pro-life work. Donate to CCBR here. 3. Put an insert in your bulletin or hang up a poster with more information. Download graphics here. 4. Promote pro-life training and outreach opportunities to your congregation. See a list of upcoming events here. We are happy to print and mail bulletin inserts and/or event poster(s) to you at no cost. Email mking@endthekilling.ca with your address and quantity requests. Check out imagodei.ca for more information and resources, and please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions! For Life, The Imago Dei Team *Please take a moment to share this article with other pastors you know. Suggested Bulletin Announcement: This Sunday is marked as Sanctity of Human Life Sunday by countless churches across North America. Abortion on demand was legalized in Canada in January 1988. Since then, over 4 million of God's tiniest image-bearers have been torn apart by abortion in our country. As ambassadors for the Creator of life, we have the privilege and responsibility of rescuing the innocent from death (Proverbs 24:11), caring for orphans and widows (James 1:27), and exposing evil (Ephesians 5:11). May we be a beacon of light and life in this dark world, seeking justice for the pre-born and loving mercy for those who have been hurt by abortion. Visit imagodei.ca to learn more. PS - If you are looking for a way to equip your congregation to respond to abortion, check out our Study Series. This 5-week video series is paired with a comprehensive discussion guide and requires no previous training to lead. It covers a biblical perspective on abortion, pro-life apologetics and strategy, and practical tips for taking action to defend life. • 2022 Christmas Newsletter

2022 Christmas Newsletter And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” Luke 2:11-12 Dear friends, As Christmas approaches, we rejoice at the incarnation of Jesus Christ. In a strange and awe-inspiring contrast to imago Dei—“image of God”—God took on the likeness of man. There’s something about this that strikes me as remarkably applicable to the crisis we face today: 100,000 children are killed by abortion every year in Canada. When God became man, He did so at the same age that all of us begin, taking on the vulnerability that all of us have in our mothers' wombs. As a single cell—a zygote—he rapidly began to grow. At 3 weeks, His heart began to beat. At 6 weeks, if they’d had today’s technology, they would have detected brain waves. At 12 weeks, He probably sucked His thumb. He made Himself as vulnerable as the 100,000 children who are torn apart every day in this country. For me, that sheds a new light on His words, "Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these, you did it to Me." Since they have no voice to thank you, we would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all who sacrifice much to fight for the lives of “the least of these” - whether by giving of your time or by financially supporting this work! Because of you, tiny image-bearers are rescued from death. Looking back on 2022, our hearts are filled with thankfulness at all the Lord has done through CCBR's work this year: 44 summer interns, 1456 instances of street outreach, 154 presentations, 9593 man-hours of activism, 712 hours of Truth Truck driving, and 399,616 postcards delivered across Canada. In total, we reached 4,015,707 views of abortion victim photography. Praise God! • Fall 2022 Newsletter

Fall 2022 Newsletter "You formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made." Psalm 139:13 Dear friends, Just like that, another summer has come and gone. CCBR's 39 interns and 6 team leaders in Calgary and the GTA delivered 319,635 postcards, knocked on 4717 doors, and reached over 1 million people with the truth about abortion! By the grace of God, lives were changed over the last four months - not only those who rethought their positions on abortion, but also each of the interns who persevered through long, hot days, tired feet, and challenging conversations to seek justice for the pre-born. There is so much to give thanks for: we recorded over 1000 testimonies of minds changed, we heard of several babies whose lives were spared, and a post-abortive mom who we met during outreach has started attending church with her children! As one of our staff members wrote in a song about the internship, "Beauty and the darkness clash again and again / So much sin, but we know we win / Keep your head up towards the light / We need to keep on fighting this fight / We know He holds all things / So we trust and fight, continue in His might." We are so thankful for the thousands of supporters who partnered with us to make the internship possible. To God be all the glory! Shana, 2-month intern this summer and newest staff member of Toronto Right to Life, wrote about her internship experience: "While many of us are continuing on with our daily lives, the truth about abortion is hidden. CCBR works to bring that truth to the forefront of a culture sleepwalking through an injustice - the injustice of 300 children aborted everyday. This internship provided an opportunity for me to actively be part of exposing what abortion does and saving lives. When I have a voice to speak for the voiceless and truly make a difference through these outreach projects, how can I not use it?" Check out this story of a changed mind from this summer! Do you know anyone who might be interested in our 2023 Summer Internship? Do you want to defend pre-born children? • Roe vs. Wade is overturned!

Roe vs. Wade is overturned! But let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream. Amos 5:24 Prayer Points Give thanks that God has blessed the work of the pro-life movement and answered many prayers today. For decades, men and women have fought tirelessly against the dark evil of abortion as they prayed for this moment. Although the fight for life is far from over in the United States, laws restricting and banning abortion are being passed across the country at exhilarating speeds. Thousands, likely millions, of precious image-bearers of God will be saved from death. Pray for peaceful responses to the laws that are being passed. Even as we rejoice, many people are hurting, angry, and confused, and there will likely be intense pushback from the pro-abortion movement. Pray for women who are pregnant, especially those in difficult situations. Pray that they would reject abortion and find help and support instead of seeking out illegal abortions. Pray for Canada. Our nation is watching as history unfolds across the border, and Justin Trudeau is more determined than ever to continue advancing abortion access. Pray that we would be bold and compassionate ambassadors for the pre-born here in our country, and that the Lord would bring about a day when we see life in the womb protected. Soli Deo Gloria. A Call to Action It is likely that the topic of abortion will be on the minds of many people in the coming weeks, and I encourage you to use this opportunity to share the truth about abortion with your colleagues, classmates, family, and friends. If you'd like to learn more about how to share your pro-life convictions with others in a compelling and compassionate way, I invite you to join us for the Toronto Pro-Life Crash Course this summer from July 14-16! The Crash Course is a 3-day event packed with high-calibre training and outreach. • Spring 2022 Newsletter

Spring 2022 Newsletter "Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are destitute. Open your mouth, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor and needy." Proverbs 31:8-9 Dear friends, Every day in Canada nearly 300 pre-born babies are brutally killed. In a D+E abortion, babies have their arms and legs ripped off, their skulls crushed, and their organs suctioned out from their mother’s wombs by a suction aspirator ten times stronger than a household vacuum cleaner. Abortion is not just another "cause" that we need to "raise awareness" about; it is an emergency that calls for action. Our God is a God of life and created man in His own image. He hears the silent cries of each child that is torn to pieces or starved to death by abortion, and our hearts ought to be broken over the injustice of abortion. Throughout Scripture, God calls us to open our mouths for the defenseless (Proverbs 31:8-9), to put our faith into action (James 2:14-17), and to rescue those who are being taken away to death (Proverbs 24:11-12). As we take hope in the fact that God is in control over all things - including abortion - we also know that God often accomplishes His will through the action of His people. As you read this newsletter, consider how God might be calling you to act on behalf of the pre-born. Last week I gave a presentation to the young people at Covenant Christian Church in Wyoming, Ontario and was encouraged to hear of their plans to deliver pro-life literature to their entire town in the near future! "I think that it is vitally important for churches and youth groups to receive training when it comes to the pro-life movement. So many people say that they are pro-life without fully understanding what that means and what abortion does to pre-born children. Without that understanding, a lot of Christians remain apathetic to the issue as a whole." -Grace, member of Covenant Christian Church Would your church be interested in hosting a presentation to learn how to reach your community with the truth about abortion? 1. Did you know? Pastors attend all events free! We believe it is essential for church leaders to be equipped to respond to abortion, and we never want cost to be a barrier. Please consider taking advantage of this opportunity by attending our upcoming Toronto Pro-Life Crash Course (July 14-16). 2. If you'd like to know more about CCBR I'd love to meet with you and share more about our work! 3. Please continue to keep the emergency of abortion in your prayers! We were able to run two very successful 4-day projects in February and March: Pro-Life Bootcamp for university students and Pro-Life Week of Action for high school students. Each week we had twelve participants who learned effective apologetics, got lots of experience out on the streets changing hearts and minds on abortion, and enjoyed great fellowship! A special thanks goes to all of the pastors who were able to join us for the training days of these weeks. "I had such an amazing experience in conversations and was blessed to change many minds and get lots of people to think about this issue. AVP and apologetics are such important foundations.... Don't ever stop this effective and efficient approach to addressing abortion!" -Hadasa (Pro-Life Week of Action attendee) "My Bootcamp experience was very formative. I'm so grateful to have met such a fantastic group of staff and volunteers..... My eyes have been opened to the necessity of the pro-life movement, and I have so much respect for those who go out into a hostile public with the pro-life message regularly." -Karilyn (Bootcamp attendee and intern this coming summer) Check out this testimony from one of our Pro-Life Week of Action participants! Study Series for Churches While many Christians understand the grave injustice that abortion is, they do not feel prepared to defend the pre-born to their friends, co-workers, and neighbors. CCBR has created this program to provide Christians with the training and tools they need to be a voice for the voiceless. The series is designed to run for 5 weeks, meeting once a week. The topics covered are: 1. Abortion in Canada & Why Christians Must Act 2. Can Our Culture Actually Change? 3. Pro-Life 101: Communicating the Pro-Life Position 4. Pro-Life 201: Communicating the Pro-Life Position 5. Loving Your Pre-born Neighbours God speaks to us in 2 Chronicles 7:14 when He says: "if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land." We believe that our God is a God who answers prayers and urge you to keep praying! Pray for our summer internship: For our interns: That this summer would be a time of growth and encouragement, that they would be compassionate and effective ambassadors for the pre-born, and that the Lord would multiply their work and give them perseverance as they reach hundreds of thousands of people with the truth about abortion. For our internship staff team: For wisdom as they mentor the interns, that the logistical details of planning would go smoothly, and that God give them endurance in this busy season. For those who we engage with on the streets: That God would soften their hearts to see the horrific nature of abortion and to repent, and that post-abortive men and women would find hope and healing in the gospel. Thank you for taking the time to read this newsletter! Please take a minute to forward it on through your church's email list and share it with anyone else who you think would benefit from it. • Winter 2022 Newsletter

Winter 2022 Newsletter "God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him." Genesis 1:27 Dear friends, Imago Dei is an initiative of the Canadian Centre for Bio-Ethical Reform (CCBR) working to mobilize Christians to defend life in the womb and to offer hope and healing to post-abortive men and women. We offer presentations, workshops, outreach opportunities, and various resources to inform and equip the Church to fulfill these responsibilities to our pre-born neighbours and wounded culture. 'Imago Dei' is a theological term meaning 'image of God'. Abortion is wrong first and foremost because it ends the life of a human being who bears the image of Almighty God. As ambassadors for the Creator of life, we have the privilege and responsibility to defend the lives of God's tiniest image-bearers, of whom nearly 300 are killed every day in Canada. I would like to invite you to join us in answering the call to rescue the innocent from death (Proverbs 24:11), to care for orphans and widows (James 1:27), and to expose evil (Ephesians 5:11). If you want to have conversations like this, click the button below and we will connect you with your local group for training and outreach! "Miranda equipped our young adults' group to respond to the masked evil of abortion in Canada in a biblically-informed, persuasive, and gentle way. More than ever, Christians need to give not only their passive solidarity but their active participation in order to save the lives of children. I heartily recommend that any youth group, small group, or Sunday school book a presentation from CCBR." -Mark, Youth Pastor at Forward Baptist, Toronto One of the key ways we equip Christians to respond to abortion is through informative presentations and interactive workshops. We'd love to come and speak for your church, school, or community, so please reach out for more information! Ask me for a 20% off discount code for these events by replying to this email! 1. That people in Canada and around the world would recognize the horrific and sinful nature of abortion and reject it. That the moms, dads, grandparents, siblings, and friends who have been hurt by the ripple effect of past abortions would find hope and healing through the Gospel. That the Lord would soften the hearts of those involved in performing abortions and bring them to repentance. More
